Femke Kok Starts Alone in Opening Heat of Women’s 1,500m Speed Skating

Femke Kok will skate alone in the opening heat of the women’s 1,500 meter event, as the competition schedule for tomorrow has been finalized.

According to NOS, Kok’s solitary start is due to her not having competed internationally in this distance during the current season. Earlier this season at Thialf, Kok surprised many by setting a track record with a time of 1:52.69. Alongside Kok, Dutch skaters Marijke Groenewoud and Antoinette Rijpma-De Jong will also compete in later heats. Groenewoud will compete in the seventh heat against Poland’s Natalia Czerwonka, while Rijpma-De Jong will face American Brittany Bowe in the penultimate heat.

The scheduled heats for Dutch skaters are as follows: Femke Kok will skate alone in the first heat; Marijke Groenewoud will compete in heat seven against Natalia Czerwonka; and Antoinette Rijpma-De Jong will race in heat fourteen against Brittany Bowe.
