The 27-year-old athlete from ‘s-Gravenzande won gold on February 9 at the Milano Ice Skating Stadium in the 1000-meter event, a distance she considers her favorite. She finished ahead of Femke Kok and set a new Olympic record with a time of 1:12.31. This achievement was the last major title missing from her extensive list of accomplishments, which includes victories at the World Single Distances Championships, World Sprint Championships, European Single Distances Championships, European Sprint Championships, various national championships, and multiple podium finishes in the World Cup series.
