Jordan Stolz extended his winning streak at the Heerenveen World Cup by capturing the 500-meter race and establishing a new track record of 33.90 seconds at Thialf.
De Telegraaf, published in the Netherlands, reports on Stolz’s dominant performance at the event.
At the Heerenveen World Cup, American speed skater Jordan Stolz successfully completed a hat trick by winning the 1500, 1000, and 500 meter races. In the 500-meter event, Stolz surpassed the previous track record held by Jenning de Boo with a time of 33.90 seconds. De Boo, who had previously set a record of 33.98 seconds, finished second with a time of 34.10 seconds. Japanese skater Wataru Morishige took third place at 34.30 seconds.
Stolz’s race was marked by a faster start compared to De Boo, and he maintained a clear lead after the second outside turn, finishing well ahead of Morishige. This victory follows Stolz’s recent achievement of breaking De Boo’s 1000 meter track record the previous Saturday, further demonstrating his strong form.
Other skaters at the event included Sebas Diniz, who placed ninth with a time of 34.53 seconds, and Stefan Westenbroek, who finished fifteenth at 34.75 seconds after returning to the A-group. Notably, Joep Wennemars withdrew from his race due to a groin injury, despite starting to earn World Cup points. Wennemars stated that starting without finishing conflicted with his values as an athlete, but was necessary to help maintain the maximum number of quotas for the Dutch team at the upcoming Milan Olympics.
