She races against Angel Daleman, who at the age of eighteen hopes to qualify for her first Olympic Games. The final pair in the 1000 meter event is composed of Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong and Femke Kok, athletes from the Reggeborgh team who, although not specializing in the kilometer distance, remain important contenders for Olympic qualification.
In the men’s 5000 meter race, the current and previous year’s Dutch champions, Chris Huizinga and Marcel Bosker, compete against each other in the eighth heat.
