Other contenders included Chris Huizinga, who finished second with a time of 6:12.10, also securing his place for the Olympics. Veteran skater Jorrit Bergsma placed fourth in 6:14.31, while Marcel Bosker came third with 6:13.10 and remains hopeful for a spot on the Olympic team.
Meanwhile, Patrick Roest, a two-time world champion and Olympic silver medalist, finished twelfth with a time of 6:26.27. Roest has struggled with form and health issues over the past 18 months, affecting his performance this season. He received a special nomination to compete at the qualifiers but did not manage to secure an Olympic berth through this event. His limited recent success contrasts with his previous achievements, highlighting the challenges he currently faces.
