Meike Veen will continue her career with Team Essent, having extended her contract with the team until 2028.
Schaatsen.nl, published in the Netherlands, reports on the extension.
At 21 years old, Meike Veen has committed to staying with the team led by Sven Kramer and Jac Orie for an additional two years. This decision follows a season in which she improved six personal records, competed as part of TeamNL at the European Championships in Poland, and secured gold medals in both the 1000 and 1500 meters at the Olympic test event in Milan. Additionally, she won the 1500 meters B-group race during the World Cup in Hamar.
Veen expressed her satisfaction with the contract extension, highlighting the support she has received from her coaches. She noted that while the first year required an adjustment period, she now feels comfortable and confident in her training. Veen emphasized the strong working relationship with her coach Sicco Janmaat and the coaching staff, which has contributed to her performance improvements. She stated that she feels entirely at home within the team.
