The starting order for the men’s 10,000 meter speed skating competition has been updated following the withdrawal of American skater Casey Dawson.
NOS, published in the Netherlands, reports that the changes affect several pairings for the race scheduled to begin at 16:00 today.
One notable change is that Dutch skater Stijn van de Bunt will now compete in the third heat instead of the second, skating against Poland’s Vladimir Semirunniy. Jorrit Bergsma, also from the Netherlands, remains in the fourth heat but will face a new opponent, Italian Davide Ghiotto. The withdrawal of Casey Dawson prompted these adjustments to the competition lineup.
The final sequence for the men’s 10,000 meter race is as follows: In the first heat, Italy’s Riccardo Lorello will race against Denmark’s Viktor Hald Thorup. The second heat features Belgium’s Bart Swings competing with Norway’s Sigurd Henriksen. The third heat pairs Vladimir Semirunniy with Stijn van de Bunt. The fourth heat includes Jorrit Bergsma and Davide Ghiotto. The fifth heat will see Czech Metodej Jílek against Canadian Ted-Jan Bloemen, and the sixth heat will have Norway’s Sander Eitrem competing with French skater Timothy Loubineaud.
