Jenning de Boo stated that he is in the best shape of the year leading up to the 500 meter competition. He described his technical skills as progressing well, noting that he can immediately apply coaching advice during training. Even while in Milan this week, he continues to make improvements.
De Boo’s confidence has been bolstered by a recent silver medal in the 1000 meter race. He highlighted that after 600 meters in that race, he was 0.37 seconds faster than his main rival, Jordan Stolz. De Boo mentioned that if Stolz had been able to race faster in that portion, as he demonstrated earlier at Thialf, he would have done so. He also commented on Stolz’s composure, suggesting that the American competitor remains unfazed unless he is defeated.
Although Stolz secured only one World Cup victory in the shortest distance this winter, de Boo’s expectations remain high. He hopes to start strongly with a fast 9.5-second opening and maintain a quick final lap, strategies he believes can lead him to a gold medal.
