The lineup for the Dutch men’s team pursuit quarterfinals has been confirmed, with Stijn van de Bunt skating alongside Chris Huizinga and Marcel Bosker, while Jorrit Bergsma will serve as a reserve rider.

Uncertainty surrounded the composition of the Dutch men’s team pursuit squad until recently. Now it is clear that Van de Bunt will compete in the quarterfinals together with Huizinga and Bosker. Jorrit Bergsma, who secured a bronze medal in the 10-kilometre event the previous day, will act as a reserve during these races.
Head coach Rintje Ritsma explained that the intention is to include Bergsma in the lineup for the semi-finals, which are scheduled for Tuesday. He emphasized that if the team aims to win a medal, it is likely that all four skaters will be needed throughout the competition. Ritsma highlighted the collective nature of the process, stating that the entire group committed to the journey and will also conclude it as a team.
Bergsma’s coach, Jillert Anema, commented on the situation by noting the complexities behind the team decisions. He noted diplomatic factors are at play and suggested that the team must decide whether to select the strongest possible combination, which includes Bergsma, or take another approach.
Earlier in the week, Van de Bunt expressed dissatisfaction regarding a lack of direct communication with him about the team’s composition for the pursuit events.
