Following the conclusion of the recent Olympic events, Bosker has acknowledged the frustrations stemming from decisions made during the competition, particularly involving team selection for the team pursuit event. Despite initial public dissatisfaction indicated through gestures made after his five-kilometer race, Bosker clarified that these were not directed at the national selection committee or the KNSB but rather at a personal acquaintance. Nevertheless, he subtly implied that the reality of the situation was more complex.
Bosker explained that his primary focus had been the team pursuit event throughout the preparation period leading up to the Olympics, with the five-kilometer race being of secondary importance until shortly before the Games. He maintains that he could have played a decisive role in the team pursuit in Milan and feels that a potential medal was lost due to the choices made by the head coach Rintje Ritsma. He questioned the decision not to maintain the same team lineup for another race and expressed personal willingness to step aside if needed, underscoring his frustration with the selection process.
Looking forward, Bosker plans to concentrate on the upcoming World Allround Championships alongside teammates Chris and Stijn, appreciating the opportunity to compete in a packed Thialf arena, which serves as a motivational environment for him. Despite disappointment, he remains committed to his sport and open to the possibility of Olympic competition in the future.
