Martina Sablikova experienced an emotional farewell in front of a full Thialf arena following the World Championships in Heerenveen.
According to AD, the 38-year-old Czech speed skater was honored with a special ceremony on Sunday afternoon after the event. Ahead of the formal goodbye, she took the initiative to skate her own lap of honor at the end of the three-kilometer race. Sablikova described the final meters of the race as difficult, stating that she did not want to reach the finish line.
