Jenning de Boo, an aspiring skater inspired by Dutch short track athletes, is preparing to switch focus to long track speed skating and join Team Reggeborgh.

De Boo expressed admiration for the accomplishments of the Dutch short track team during the recent Winter Games but noted a growing preference for long track events, particularly the longer distances such as the 1500 meters. He acknowledged that while both disciplines remain enjoyable, he finds himself better suited to long track and believes he can achieve more success there. Understanding that the 1500 meters is a challenging distance, he emphasized the need for focused training and practical experience.
When discussing his teammates in Team Reggeborgh, De Boo mentioned Kjeld Nuis, regarded as one of the best 1500-meter skaters, noting that training alongside such athletes presents a valuable opportunity. Despite limited long track experience, he expressed confidence after participating in training sessions with the team following the Olympic Qualification Tournament. The welcoming environment of the team reinforced his belief that he is ready to make the transition.
Regarding other skating disciplines, De Boo indicated that detailed discussions with his coaches are ongoing. He plans to commit fully to a long track program but is open to occasionally competing in other events, such as roller skating races, which Team Reggeborgh occasionally participates in. He is particularly interested in exploring the possibility of combining his training with marathon inline skating competitions, an area he has yet to try.
Reflecting on highlights from the past season, De Boo cited winning a silver medal in the points race as a notable performance, despite narrowly missing gold due to a tie in points. Additionally, he valued the experience gained from training with Team Reggeborgh and participating in the Inline World Championships in China, which helped inspire his decision to move towards long track skating.
