Pien Smit, 22, was once among the world’s top juniors in speed skating but has faced several setbacks due to injuries. Coaches who have observed her progress during her time in the Friesland regional team believe that with a carefully designed training program focused on injury prevention, she has the potential to achieve significant results. Throughout last winter, Smit demonstrated strong performances, including multiple victories in the Holland Cup. A strategic adjustment in her competition focus could enable her to peak at the Dutch National Championships early in the season and possibly qualify for international events.
Smit herself expresses satisfaction with the current support she receives since moving to the Development Team Fryslân.
