After five days of the Olympic Qualification Tournament (OKT), the selection matrices for both men and women skaters are becoming clearer, with only a few spots remaining uncertain.

For the men’s category, the competition intensifies as Jorrit Bergsma appears likely to secure his position for the mass start event. At this stage, only Marcel Bosker is currently outside of a guaranteed spot. However, if Bergsma is selected specifically for the team pursuit, this could result in Tim Prins losing his place. Prins’s potential vacancy on the 1,500-meter distance might then be filled by Kjeld Nuis, who is already competing in that event.
In the women’s category, the situation is relatively stable. All skaters chosen for the team pursuit and mass start events have already qualified, leaving only Naomi Verkerk without a confirmed spot. Verkerk, currently tenth on the list, may be replaced for her 1,000-meter event by Jutta Leerdam, who is already competing in the 500-meter race.
