Anna Boersma is the only speed skater selected to compete at both the European Championships in Milan and Tomaszow Mazowiecki, participating in two distances in Poland.
The Dutch speed skating team for the European Championship has been finalized following results from the State Lottery Olympic Qualification Tournament. Selections took into account a maximum of twenty athletes. Unlike other skaters who only compete in Milan, Anna Boersma from Team Staan – CTS Group will participate in both the 500 and 1000 meters in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland.
For Tim Prins, this European Championship represents an opportunity to recover from his exclusion from the Olympic team pursuit squad. Although Prins qualified for the Olympics and earned a third place on the 1500 meters, Marcel Bosker was selected instead for the team pursuit event, leaving Prins outside that lineup. Prins will compete in four distances at the European Championships: 500, 1000, 1500 meters and the team sprint.
Other Dutch athletes include Bart Hoolwerf skating the mass start, Angel Daleman assigned to the 500 meters, and Sanne in ’t Hof competing in the 3000 meters, mass start, and team pursuit. The roster features several newcomers such as Meike Veen, Gioya Lancee, Kim Talsma, Jasper Krommenhoek, and Kayo Vos. The team events will consist of temporary duos and trios, aiming to contend for medals despite the absence of the longest distances at this championship.
