Brittany Bowe Reflects on Meeting Hilary Knight During 2022 Beijing Olympics

U.S. speed skater Brittany Bowe recalls meeting her partner, hockey player Hilary Knight, during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing as a standout moment beyond her athletic achievements.

According to People, Bowe described the experience of connecting with Knight during the Games as an unexpected personal highlight. Despite knowing each other through previous Olympic events, it was in Beijing that they were able to spend more time together. Their first dates involved walks around the Olympic Village amid strict COVID-19 precautions, gradually progressing to dinners.

Speaking about the unique setting of the Olympic bubble, Bowe noted that limited outside distractions allowed the couple to build their relationship in a focused way. The two now share a home in Salt Lake City and prepare to compete in what may be their final Winter Olympics in 2026, with a shared excitement about returning to venues with spectators after pandemic restrictions affected the previous Games.

Brittany Bowe began her athletic career in inline skating before transitioning to ice skating, inspired by watching competitors at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She joined Team USA by the 2014 Sochi Games and earned a team bronze medal in 2018. In 2022, she won an individual bronze in the 1000-meter speed skating event. Bowe expressed enthusiasm about concluding her Olympic career representing her country, particularly with her family present in the audience.
