Current and former Olympic athletes, including celebrated skaters Sven Kramer and Ireen Wüst, are actively participating in a TeamNL auction held throughout the Winter Games to raise funds for their sporting associations.
Schaatsen.nl, a Dutch sports news outlet, reports on this ongoing auction event.
The auction began on February 6 with items such as the flag carried by Jens van ‘t Wout during the opening ceremony and the TeamNL jacket he wore. The final auction closes on February 22, coinciding with the Olympic closing ceremony. New auction items are introduced nearly every day throughout the Games, often timed to the start of competitions, offering fans regular opportunities to bid on current memorabilia.
Interested individuals can view available items, current bids, and upcoming auctions on the dedicated platform. The auction features contributions not only from current athletes but also from former Olympic champions who have retired from active competition, demonstrating widespread enthusiasm for supporting Dutch sports.
Participating athletes come from various clubs and associations, which will receive the majority of the auction proceeds. The list includes skaters such as Jorrit Bergsma from STG De Pinguïns, Anna Boersma from STD St Nicolaasga, Kjeld Nuis from IJssport Vereniging Leiden, and many others representing short track and figure skating clubs. In addition to speed skating, athletes from bobsleigh, snowboarding, skiing, and skeleton, including Kimberley Bos, are also contributing items.
The initiative is a collaboration with MatchWornShirt, a platform with longstanding experience partnering with major football clubs worldwide to offer game-worn and signed apparel through online auctions. Since 2024, MatchWornShirt has expanded its cooperation to include TeamNL, enabling fans of various sports to acquire unique garments and memorabilia from Dutch athletes competing at the Winter Olympics.
