Sebas Diniz Joins Team Essent for Upcoming Seasons

Sebas Diniz will compete for Team Essent over the next two seasons, having signed a contract extending to mid-2028 with the team led by Jac Orie and Sven Kramer.

NOS Schaatsen, a Dutch news outlet, reports that the 24-year-old sprinter previously held a contract with IKO-X2O but has now committed to Team Essent.

Diniz, a 500-meter specialist from Borne, experienced a breakthrough season recently. He secured a silver medal behind Jenning de Boo at the Dutch Championships in the distance events and improved his personal best to 34.11 seconds in Calgary during November. Furthermore, he qualified for the Olympic Games in Milan, where he achieved a fifth-place finish in the 500 meters.

In a press statement, Diniz said he had a productive discussion with Jac Orie, who believes there is considerable room for the athlete’s development. Diniz expressed confidence that joining Team Essent will help him take the next steps in his career. He aims to improve his 500-meter time into the low 33-second range, become competitive with the top international skaters, and win medals at international events.

At Team Essent, Diniz will be teammates with skaters such as Joep Wennemars, Tijmen Snel, and the Norwegian Bjørn Magnussen, who is also a recent addition to the team.
