According to Schaatsen.nl, a Dutch sports news outlet, Jutta Leerdam’s coach expressed admiration for her ability to maintain high speed with an elegant skating style, referring to her as a ‘rough diamond’ that he has helped polish into a brilliant talent. He emphasized that speed skating combines physical toughness with aesthetic appeal, making it akin to an art form.
The coach also addressed the pressures Leerdam faces, noting that while her behavior can sometimes provoke others and increase external pressure, the internal pressure they place on themselves in pursuit of perfection is often greater. He explained that when his internal pressure exceeds external demands, he is able to cope effectively by mentally blocking out distractions.
Observing Leerdam’s continuous improvement and focus on her goals, the 63-year-old coach expressed satisfaction with her progress.
