As a first-year A junior, Wiersma looks ahead to the next season with clear objectives. He shared with his coach that he aims to win gold in the 1500 meter, 5000 meter, and the allround classification. Additionally, he hopes to compete successfully in the team pursuit. Although these goals are set for the upcoming season, Wiersma remains focused on the current World Championships in Inzell.
The championship will conclude with team events this Sunday, where Wiersma is eager to secure a world title alongside teammates Ede Kortlever and Sem Spruit. The trio comprises strong skaters capable of maintaining consistent lap times in the three and five kilometer distances. Wiersma emphasized their solid starts, consistent pacing, and good rhythm synchronization, expressing confidence and enthusiasm about competing for victory.
Wiersma also plans to compete for a medal in the mass start, partnering with Spruit. His ongoing progress suggests a promising future for the young talent from Friesland.
Regarding his team status, Wiersma indicated satisfaction with his current placement in the KNSB Talent Team North (KTT Noord). Despite achieving times comparable to senior circuit athletes like Angel Daleman, who transitioned to a commercial team, Wiersma has no intention to switch teams yet. He appreciates his current environment under coach Peter Kolder and values his teammates as friends. Wiersma is cautious about external pressures that often accompany commercial teams and plans to remain where he is for at least another year.
