After experiencing a less satisfying season, Bosker incorporated running into his training regimen during a vacation in Miami where he did not have access to his bicycle. Recognizing his need to stay active, he started running despite finding it very challenging initially. This difficulty motivated him to keep improving. Over time, he built up his endurance and participated in a 10-kilometer race two years ago, followed by a half marathon last year, and more recently signed up for the Rotterdam marathon.

Running has contributed to a lighter physique and slimmer legs, which benefits his speed skating, especially in the 5 and 10-kilometer distances. However, this has come with some trade-offs for his performance in shorter distances. Bosker explained that in the past two years, his focus has primarily been on preparing for the Olympic Games rather than allround competitions, which hold less global significance.

Mentally, the practice of running has helped Bosker develop a positive mindset. He shared that during long runs he breaks down the distance, thinking from ten kilometers to five, and applies similar mental strategies on the ice by focusing on the remaining distance and time. Such approaches have improved his mental strength during races.

Looking ahead, Bosker does not expect to complete a full marathon this summer as he prepares for the upcoming winter season. Nevertheless, he hopes to eventually complete all seven major marathons in cities including Tokyo, Boston, London, Sydney, Berlin, Chicago, and New York. He does not plan to achieve this within four years but sees it as a longer-term goal that may extend beyond his athletic career. In the meantime, he intends to focus on recovery and home improvement projects.
