Scheperkamp began working with coach Jac Orie in early 2020 and quickly demonstrated strong potential. During the Olympic Qualification Tournament in December 2021, he secured his spot for the Beijing Winter Games on the 500-meter event. In the first heat, he posted the third-fastest time (34.64 seconds), and notably improved in the second heat with the best overall time of the field at 34.45 seconds. However, his performance during the Olympics did not meet expectations, as he finished twelfth with a time of 34.73 seconds.
In the 2022-2023 season, Scheperkamp earned the European sprint championship title. At the Vikingskipet arena in Hamar, he edged out competitor Hein Otterspeer over four distances. Continuing his European presence, in 2025 he took silver at the European Championships held at Thialf, his home rink, finishing behind Jenning de Boo.
Despite these achievements, Scheperkamp has struggled to improve his times significantly in recent years. Ahead of the Olympic Qualification Tournament for the Milan Winter Games, he acknowledged being somewhat stuck at his current performance level. He expressed a desire to break into the low 33-second range on the 500 meter, a benchmark for sprinters, but has not achieved those times. Since his notable 34.45 seconds in December 2019, progress has been minimal, with his personal best improving only slightly to 34.41 seconds in February 2024, a marginal 0.04-second improvement.
