Angel Daleman and Anna Boersma have withdrawn from the Daikin Dutch Sprint Championships, while Patrick Roest continues his recovery without competing this weekend in Thialf.
Schaatsen.nl, Netherlands, reports that Boersma pulled out after a disappointing 500-meter race, and Daleman withdrew just before the first distance. Boersma, a young skater from Team Essent who was also expected to compete at the Junior Dutch Championships this weekend, experienced back pain during the morning warm-up that led to her withdrawal.
Patrick Roest, a two-time Dutch allround champion, is not participating in the competition as he recovers from ongoing challenges. He did not compete in the Eindhoven Trophy, the final qualifying event, and was not granted a wildcard entry. His coach, Robin Derks, emphasized that they are working hard to support Roest’s recovery and that rushing him back to competition would be counterproductive. Roest ended his current season but remains committed to returning refreshed next year. His contract and sponsorship remain secure, and he is motivated to continue despite his difficulties.
