Bart Swings has announced that he will not compete in the World Allround Speed Skating Championships in Heerenveen this weekend, as he looks ahead to new goals following a demanding season.
Sporza, a Belgian news outlet, reported on Swings’ decision.
Swings shared the news via an Instagram post, explaining that after a winter filled with intense focus and hard work, he is choosing to prioritize what comes next in his career. He expressed his anticipation for upcoming objectives and made clear that he will not be participating in the Dutch-hosted World Allround Championships.
Following the Winter Olympics in Milan, the Belgian athlete took some time off from competition. His performance at the Olympics, where he was unable to defend his mass start title and finished ninth, came amid challenges including knee problems. The Leuven native thus looks forward to recovering and setting new targets for the future.
