Anna Boersma has recently emerged as a notable talent in Dutch speed skating, achieving significant milestones during the past season.

Although Boersma has long been recognized as a promising athlete and holds the unofficial Dutch record in the 100 meters, it was only last winter that she reached the national podium for the first time. At the Daikin NK Afstanden, she recorded a time of 37.44 seconds, earning her a place in the World Cup competitions. She further improved her performance with a 37.27 seconds result, which secured her a start in Milan.
Her participation in the Olympics ended with a fifteenth-place finish, which was somewhat below expectations. Nevertheless, this placement does not overshadow what has been an excellent season for her. On the 500 meters, Boersma notably reduced her personal best by nearly a second, moving from 38.02 to 37.11 seconds.
Her progress has drawn attention from sprint coaches Gerard van Velde and Dennis van der Gun of Team Reggeborgh. They see Boersma as an ideal training partner for world champion Femke Kok and Marrit Fledderus, both of whom, along with Boersma, began skating at the STD club in Sint Nicolaasga. Boersma herself expressed enthusiasm about training alongside these top athletes, noting her long-standing acquaintance with them since childhood.
Reflecting on her rapid development, the Frisian athlete said she always sensed her potential but did not anticipate such swift improvement during the latest season. She credited her advancement to her collaboration with Ian Steen and Hein Otterspeer at Staan-CTS Group, which played a key role in her transition to Team Reggeborgh.
