At the second race of the season organized by De Westereen, Kai-Arne Ottenhoff and Sanne Oosterwijk secured wins in their respective elimination races.

The competition held on Saturday featured promising young skaters battling for top positions. Kai-Arne Ottenhoff, an 18-year-old recently committed to the Reggeborgh long track team, took the men’s elimination race victory by outpacing his peers Sem Spruit and Joël Haasjes in the final sprint. On the women’s side, 21-year-old Sanne Oosterwijk won ahead of Elbrich Nicolay and Bo Hoogvorst.

In the 200-meter event, Jelmar Hempenius recorded a winning time of 18.958 seconds, followed by New Zealander Peter Michael at 19.111 seconds and Ottenhoff at 19.382 seconds. The women’s 200-meter race was closely contested, with Lataesha Narain narrowly beating Fleur Huls by a margin of 0.051 seconds, finishing in 20.617 seconds versus 20.668 seconds. Narain, aged 22 and part of the Ka-Li Skate Team, showed progress after a summer affected by injuries. She is preparing for an important upcoming race at her home rink in Geisingen next weekend.
