Aart van der Wulp and Nynke de Jong have been appointed to the coaching staff of KNSB’s long track speed skating talent program, bringing extensive experience to support young athletes in the northern region of the Netherlands.

Both Van der Wulp and De Jong possess considerable experience from their own careers as long track speed skaters, as well as previous roles guiding talents towards high performance levels. Van der Wulp most recently fulfilled the position of national coach for German long track speed skaters, achieving notable success, while De Jong had been a talent coach at KTT Zuidwest before that program was discontinued.
The addition of Van der Wulp and De Jong also addresses the vacancy left by Petra Hooijenga, who stepped down due to personal circumstances that made continuing her role within KTT Noord unfeasible. Their expertise is expected to maintain and enhance the development framework for emerging skaters in the northern Netherlands.
Remy de Wit, the technical director of KNSB, expressed satisfaction with the new appointments, highlighting Van der Wulp’s well-known expertise and the benefit of retaining De Jong within the KNSB talent environment. Additionally, Jacob Reitsma, chairman of KTT Noord, emphasized that Van der Wulp and De Jong are well-aligned with KNSB’s vision and approach to talent identification and development, forming a robust coaching team alongside Peter to support young athletes effectively.
