At 28 years old, Suzanne Schulting secured her spot for the Milan 2026 Winter Olympics by finishing second in the 1000-meter longtrack race at the Olympic Qualification Tournament with a personal best time of 1:14.71. This marked a significant achievement for Schulting, who had struggled earlier in the season but managed to peak during this critical event behind winner Femke Kok.
Although initially she had planned to focus on longtrack first, with shorttrack as a fallback option, Schulting has now confirmed she will compete at the NK shorttrack as well. This event also offers Olympic qualification opportunities, and she intends to pursue a starting position for the Games in shorttrack. She trained with the shorttrack team on Tuesday morning in preparation.
Suzanne Schulting has an impressive record in shorttrack, having won three Olympic gold medals along with one silver and two bronze medals. Her participation in both disciplines at the upcoming Milan Olympics could mark a rare example of an athlete competing at the highest level in two skating formats.
